About Carvalho Fisheries

Carvalho Fisheries is a "first receiver" of Seafood, which means we buy it directly from the boats. To do this we operate six of our own docks spanning 300 miles of coastline. California docks are in Eureka, Trinidad and Crescent City. In Oregon our docks are in Coos Bay, Florence and Newport. We buy from well over 100 fishing vessels at these docks. We have our own trucking system to consolidate these products and deliver them to our processing plant.

Our company is also a "processor" of seafood. We cook, pack and freeze crab. Our crew picks crab meat from fresh and frozen crabs. We also cut and pack fresh fish and fish fillets. Our 25,000 square foot facility is located in Crescent City, CA. The plant is HACCP certified to FDA and NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) export standards. It has it's own 6,000 square foot cold storage. We are currently running more than 4 million pounds of product annually through the plant, we invite you to watch our crab production video.

In addition to production, Carvalho Fisheries' plant is involved with quality research and development upgrade technologies, including systematic: 1) pathogen reduction 2) metals reduction (See Low Mercury Products) 3) nutritional enhancements (Omega 3 stabilization) 4) processing upgrades.

Additionally, our company is a "distributor" of seafood. Most of our products are delivered to major wholesale distributors nationwide. However, a growing marketing focus is direct shipping from our plant to retail stores and restaurants, especially in the seven western most states. Delivery time from our plant door to the retailer's door or kitchen is quick and surprisingly affordable.
